MIS AMIGOS!
I have just finished my first week in the field and it was amazing. I am in T, the best place in Chile! I don't understand anyone, but I love the people. T is great it is right on the coast and you can see the ocean almost from any point in the city. There are a lot if hills here as well, and SO MANY DOGS. They are everywhere, which means so is their poop, it's fantastic. Most of the time they just leave you alone, but they can be pretty annoying. Many people here live in what we call "tomas" as in "you take" because they are little shanties up in the hills and are made out of whatever metal and wood you can find, usually with some kind of cement foundation. The food here is pretty normal. The bread is great, they bake it fresh every day, but THEY DON'T EAT DINNER HERE. In the morning we have a small breakfast and then a big lunch with our Mamita, a Sister who we pay to cook for us. Lunch is around 2 and is usually rice with a salad, made up of lettuce tomatos and whatever else they have, and then some meat, today I had some chicken innards. Nobody drinks water so we drink a lot of soda. I love it here in T there are many prepared people here. My companion and I have 3 baptismal dates and a baptism this Saturday! I bear testimony in the lessons and do my best to teach the principles as well, I can speak decently, but it is very hard to understand their responses. My companion is Elder T, he is my papito. He is from Argentina and speaks very little English. He is great, and a little sad because Argentina just lost the copa to CHILE. Vamos CHILE! It is pretty funny to watch everyone make fun of him. haha. We had rain this week and a earthquake. Earthquakes happen all the time, but as far as I know it hasn't rained here in years. The branch here is pretty small, but they are great. Fun fact: There is something here in Chile called La Arraña Rincon. It is a spider and if it bites you, you will die in a couple dies without immediate medical attention. We killed one last night, they are everywhere. The mission is great and the gospel is true!
