IT IS COLD. El Salvador got hit with some cold weather this week. It even snowed a little in the distant hills.
This week has been great.
THE PEOPLE. This week we met some cool people. As we were knocking doors to update some of our old records we knocked on the door of A PRO SOCCER PLAYER. I don't remember if I told you, but El Salvador has a soccer team. "Cobresal" They are in the 1st chilean league and last year won the cup. I think they play this saturday in El salvador against The U. There are 2 main teams in Chile and most of the people are fans of one or the other. The U, and Colo Colo. Anyway. we found a player of cobresal and right now he is one of our future investigators. One of the suggestions of finding more investigators given to us by our Mission President is go to the sport games of our investigators and members. SOOO we might just have to go to a pro soccer game.
THE FOOD. This week we ate like Chilean kings, which of course includes empanadas. We also had some really good fresh bread, weird pizza, and we stoppped by the birthday party of one of our part member families where we were generoulsy bestowed with all kinds of Chilean goodies. The typical chilean desert pastry is some kind of fried dough with MANJAR. Manjar is kinda like carmel. The to key getting free freshly baked bread is contacting bakers in the morning and getting to know them by asking about their work. Afterwards they always want to share a little of their bread.
THE DOGS. Well you know how it is. This week we happened to see more dogs with white eyes. I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY COME FROM. We weren't attacked, but I feel like they are in some kind of gang. On the bright side of dogs we have to new friends. One is pequeno, Which is a lie he is actually pretty big. I call him aslan and that about sums it up. The other is a great dane named Cannibas. I kid you not. His name is Cannibas and he is pretty chill... haha.
THE REVOLT. Something that is very common in chile is worker protests. As I have mentioned before, Codelco, The copper mining company, owns everything. They are the biggest copper mining source in the world. The workers of Codelco are planning a revolt. This happens pretty often I guess. They will block off all the roads and paths to enter and exit El Salvador. In chile there is a period of time when this is legal, I think about a week. But after this time period it is illegal and that's when things get crazy. Throwing stuff at police, fire in the streets etc. From what I know we are pretty safe in El Slavador, but we do need to buy evrything we need in advance to prepare.
THE ACTIVITIES. We are having more people come to our activities and it is awesome. Primarialy nonmambers and less actives it is awesome. Our choir is now at the rooflifting number of 7. And there are more people in our english class. Things are good.
THE LESSONS. This week we had a couple great lessons. Onw which included and baptismal invitation and acception. If everything goes to plan we will have a baptims this SATURDAY!!! He is a young man and his mom is less active. Pray that everything will go well, His parents are might change their minds. The other lesson was with one ouf our investigating families. We had a powerful lesson about pray and turing to God for strength. I was able to bear powerful testimony that GOD LOVES US, but we need to go to him to receive his aid. PRAY PRAY PRAY. just do it. Excersise what little faith you have, even if it is only a desire and pray. During the lesson I could feel the love God had for this family, and also a little bit of the feelings he has when we are struggling, but don't go to him for help. GO TO HIIM. His arms are always extended.
That's all for this week, I'll let you know if the workers get a bigger paycheck or we have to leave the sector haha.
